Rutgers Learning Centers
The Rutgers Learning Centers provide an active and collaborative place to learn through a variety of peer-led academic support services that enhance student success. They offer the following core programs:
Rutgers Writing Program
Rutgers Writing Program website
The Rutgers Writing Program provides instruction to over 11,000 undergraduate students yearly. They offer required writing classes and advanced courses in Business & Technical Writing, all of which prepare students to succeed throughout their academic careers at Rutgers and beyond. The Writing Program draws on full-time instructors, part-time lecturers, and teaching assistants from disciplines across the Arts and Sciences to staff more than 600 writing courses a year. They also provide tutoring, free of charge, in their Writing Centers located on the College Avenue Campus, Livingston Campus, and Douglass Campus.
LinkedIn Learning
Rutgers provides free access to LinkedIn Learning for active faculty, staff, and students. LinkedIn Learning offers industry-leading content and courses taught by expert instructors in leadership, project management, graphic design, photography, software development, and more. Courses range from beginner to advanced and can be taken to obtain a professional certificate or learn more about a personal hobby.
University Software Portal
The Rutgers University Software Portal offers various software for purchase or download based on current licensing agreements. You need to be an active faculty, staff or student member of the University to gain access to the portal
Amarel Computing Environment
Amarel is a shared community-owned advanced computing environment available to any investigator or student with projects requiring research computing resources. The model is distinguished by a set of uniform technical and policy elements that, while sufficiently flexible to support the degree of heterogeneity inherent in the Rutgers environment, affords a level of standardization that greatly simplifies management procedures, troubleshooting, and provides a more seamless user experience. The Amarel cluster replaced apps.rutgers.edu, which was decommissioned in 2019.
The Language Center
With a full and part-time professional and technical staff, they provide technology training, curriculum development and language coordination assistance, TA / PTL training, and a variety of other programs, services and facilities to support world language study at Rutgers-New Brunswick.
