Sulekha Prasad is a graduate of Stony Brook University. She is of South Asian descent, but was born and raised in New York. She has been active in Women's Studies for eight years. Sulekha has worked for the Feminist Majority Alliance of Stony Brook University, Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Association of Stony Brook University, the New York Public Interest Research Group of Stony Brook University, and currently with SAKHI for South Asian Women and Code Pink. Her work has primarily focused on human rights violations of women. On a local level Sulekha has helped educate and orient women who are new immigrants to the U.S., through a program called SAKHI (an anti-domestic violence abuse center).
