Daniela Gutiérrez was born in Bogotá, Colombia, where she lived most of her life, except for her elementary school years, when she lived in Piscataway, NJ, and Raleigh, North Carolina. For her bachelor's degree, she majored in Literature, particularly researching gender issues in 19th century French and English, and 20th century Latin American authors.
