Bio
I hail from Dallas, TX, where after graduating from the University of Texas in Austin, I began teaching elementary school, both 1st and 3rd grades, for eight years. I obtained my Masters in Education from Texas Christian University in School Counseling and worked in that role for four years as a high school counselor in Dallas before moving to NYC to pursue a Masters in Social Work degree at New York University. have focused my research and advocacy efforts on violence against women and girls particularly within educational institutions. I plan to continue this work as I begin the MA practicum track here at Rutgers.
Through my research, I hope to help inform policy initiatives to create safer campus environments for students by enacting more effective sexual violence prevention and intervention programs and strategies. I am also interested in how educational institutions respond to incidents of sexual violence on their campuses, from immediate reporting and survivor support to legal ramifications and campus accountability.
