Bio
Jessica is a graduate of The College of New Jersey, with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a minor in Women & Gender Studies. She teaches private flute, saxophone, and clarinet lessons and is an avid “foodie” and yoga lover in her spare time. Her research interests include gender and sexuality issues in K-12 education and music education, the fat/skinny dichotomy in Western cultures and the rise of the “curvy” woman, and representations of gender and sexuality in popular culture and its effect on youth. Jessica plans to return to teaching music K-12, though her long-term goals include writing curricula for K-12 music in New Jersey and working for an organization such as GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network).
