A film by Dr. Manjula Bharathy about Sree Nandu, the first “out” Transman in Kerala, India.

 


XXWhy won awards for the best documentary film at the Kashish International Film Festival, 2010, Saathi Rainbow National Film Festival, 2010, and SOMS National Film Festival, 2010.

Dr. Manjula Bharathy is Professor at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and Chief Operating Officer (Organization & Social Development) of Kudumbashree, the Poverty Eradication Mission of Government of Kerala.  With 4.2 Million women members, Kudumbashree is one of the largest community- based organizations in the world.

Dr. Bharathy’s expertise includes gender and local governance, tribals and local governance, gender and micro-credit program, political economy of the media and development communication. During 2018-2019, she is a Fulbright Senior Scholar at Rutgers.
