Biographical Notes

Dr. Debotri Dhar is a CEW 2015-16 Jean Campbell Visiting Scholar and lecturer in Women’s Studies at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. She previously taught at Rutgers University, and at the College of Wooster, and held a research affiliation at Boston University. Debotri has published numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and edited volumes, including Education and Gender (London/New York: Bloomsbury Academic, 2014); 'Radha's Revenge; Feminist Agency, Postcoloniality and the Politics of Desire in Anita Nair's Mistress,' Postcolonial Text, Vol 7, No 4 (2012); and given conference papers, talks, and invited presentations at Princeton University, Yale University, the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Boston University, Harvard University, and elsewhere. Her awards and honors include an Excellence Fellowship; a South Asian Studies research award; an Institute for Research on Women Fellowship; and a Distinction in Women's Studies. She has taught several courses, including Feminist Theory; The Gendered Body; Knowledge and Power: Issues in Women’s Leadership; Gender and Representation; Social Justice: Literature and Politics; Transnational Feminisms; and Sexual Violence and the State: Global Perspectives.
