Gender and international development, feminist pedagogy, global sexualities, online activism, and critical university studies.

Biographical Notes

Gwendolyn Beetham is the Director of the Global Village at Douglass Residential College, the women's college at Rutgers University. She has worked for women’s research institutes and gender justice organizations around the world  and has taught gender studies at the London School of Economics, Rutgers University, and Brooklyn College.  An activist-scholar, she co-edited, with Jessica Valenti, the first issue of an academic journal on the topic of feminist blogging for the S&F Online (2007), and currently works to bridge the activist/academic divide in her role as Assistant Editor of the University of Venus at Inside Higher Ed and as curator of the series “The Academic Feminist" at Feministing.com. Gwendolyn is the co-editor of the four volume collection Gender, Poverty and Development (Routledge, 2014) and will be a fellow for the 2015-2016 IRW seminar on the topic of “poverty”.
