01:988:411 Gendered Health Impacts of Structural Adjustment Programs

What Should We Expect in this Course?

This is a course about how to hold global institutions, decision-makers and investors accountable to the detrimental health impacts of macro-structural economic policies and practices. It is a class about how global institutions are formed, how they function and how they unevenly distribute and concentrate power. In particular, the class will investigate Structural Adjustment Programs as a specific type of historical formation through which economic and political elites reinforce their decision making authority and increase their control of global resources by imposing conditions, obligations and political expectations onto the global south.
